Sunrise Highway [12-1-15]

Not long after 06:00 hours on the morning of December 1st, 2015 the Baldwin Fire Department responded to a jackknifed tractor trailer in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway between Edna Court and Grand Avenue. When units arrived on scene they found a large oil spill and an actively leaking saddle tank nearly filled with diesel. Firefighters worked to contain the spill and keep the fluids from spreading further until Nassau County Hazmat arrived on scene. Nassau County Police, Nassau County Police ESU, and New York State DOT were also on the scene assisting in the operation.
