Newton Avenue [3-24-17]

At 17:24 hours on the evening of Friday, March 24th, 2017 the Baldwin Fire Department was dispatched to a reported garage fire at 939 Newton Avenue off Grand Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with an attached garage fire leading to the transmission of the signal ten [working fire] – the department’s second in less than 24 hours. Baldwin Engine 203 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had two lines stretched with at least one going into operation. Freeport was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 217. Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire and keep it from spreading into the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Baldwin Chief of Department Cesare [205].
