Jayne Place [1-14-19]
In the six o’clock hour on the morning of Monday, January 14th, 2019 the Baldwin Fire Department was called to a house fire on Jayne Place in the dead end off Milburn Avenue. Baldwin Fire Dispatch advised responding units that one call was received from a frantic female and that police were on scene with heavy smoke in the house and looking for the fire department to step it up. Baldwin Engine 203 and Ladder 207 were the first one and one to arrive on scene. The truck company reported smoke showing and moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted by Baldwin command. The operation reached a second alarm after fire extended throughout the two and a half story private dwelling. Among the departments called for mutual aid were Hempstead, South Hempstead, Freeport, Roosevelt, Rockville Centre, and Lakeview. Despite early reports of a possible person within all occupants made it out safely and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Baldwin Third Deputy Chief Cummings [2053].
