Bertha Drive [6-25-16]
The Baldwin Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire across from 3314 Bertha Drive early on the morning of Saturday, June 25th, 2016. Multiple calls were received for the fire which was first reported minutes before two a.m. Baldwin Third Deputy Chief Peter Ortiz [2053] was among the first fire department units to arrive on scene and advised he had heavy fire on the second floor of a private dwelling. This led to the transmission of a signal ten [working fire]. Freeport was designated the FAST and responded with Tiller 218. Baldwin Engine 203 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had at least two lines stretched and operating before Ladder 206 was used to attack the main body of fire. No injuries were reported and no one was home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire was under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Baldwin Chief of Department Michael Jazylo [205].
