Demott Avenue [7-19-19]
On the night of Friday, July 19th, 2019 the Baldwin Fire Department was called to a house fire on Demott Avenue off Tanwood Drive. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with heavy fire and smoke showing from a two-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Among the departments called were Freeport, Rockville Centre, Hempstead, Oceanside, Roosevelt and Long Beach. Firefighters put four hand lines into operation and within forty minutes all visible fire was knocked down. All occupants of the home made it safely out and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
