Lee Place [1-19-13]
On the afternoon of January 19th, multiple calls were being received reporting a shed fire next to a home at the intersection of Lee Place and Glenn Drive in Bellmore. Soon after, dispatch was able to provide units with an accurate address and provided 3159 Lee Place. When the first and second assistant chiefs arrived on scene they were met with a small shed fully involved and extending to a residential home. Moments later the signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. Bellmore Engine 604 was the first engine on scene and stretched into the scene after picking up a hydrant. North Bellmore responded to the scene with Ladder 657 and acted as the FAST team. Standing by for Bellmore was an engine from Wantagh, a ladder from Merrick, and an ambulance from North Merrick. Two lines were stretched with one in operation for the Saturday afternoon fire. The scene was placed under control [signal twelve transmitted] within forty minutes. The fire which originated with the shed extended into the garage area and a second floor bedroom. All fire department units were under the command of Bellmore First Assistant Chief Stephen Marsar [600-01].
