Hempstead Turnpike [6-28-19]

In the early morning hours of Friday, June 28th, 2019 firefighters operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] at the Bethpage Motel on Hempstead Turnpike. The fire was in a room on the second floor of the motel and appeared to have spread when a mattress was removed from the fire room and placed outside. Firefighters put one hand line into operation and quickly knocked down the main body of fire. Among the departments called to assist Bethpage were Farmingdale, South Farmingdale, and Wantagh. The scene was placed under control within twenty-five minutes and the cause of the fire is under investigation. At least one civilian sustained an injury [burns] and all fire department units were under the command of Bethpage Assistant Chief Isernia [Car 2].
