Old Country Road [12-12-12]
On the afternoon of December 12th, the Carle Place Fire Department was alerted for a building fire at the Holiday Inn located at 369 Old Country Road. Upon arrival, the first chief on scene was met with fire inside a second floor room on the number three side of the building. Immediately the department was re-toned for manpower for a working fire. Carle Place Engine 911 was the first engine on scene while the recently put into service 914 was the first ladder on scene. Engine 911 stretched and put one line into operation inside the non-sprinkler system building. Within only a few minutes firefighters were able to knock down the main body of fire and contain it to one room. During operations police officers and firefighters checked hotel rooms throughout the building to ensure all occupants were out. Nassau County ESU responded to the scene to force the doors of hotel rooms to which entry could not be gained.
