7th Street [5-6-21]
On the night of Thursday, May 6th, 2021 the East Meadow Fire Department operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] on 7th Street off Freeman Avenue. When firefighters first arrived on scene, they were met with heavy fire showing from a private dwelling with fire extending to the residence on the exposure two side. There was also at least one significant explosion which was believed to have been caused by a large propane tank. Firefighters first utilized a deck gun to extinguish the bulk of the fire and then went on to put multiple hand lines into operation. Despite the heavy fire on arrival firefighters had the main body of fire quickly knocked down. The occupants of both homes made it out safely and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
