Friends Lane [11-12-18]
At 09:28 hours on the morning of Monday, November 13th, 2018 the East Meadow Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Friends Lane off Canyon Lane. East Meadow Third Assistant Chief Kosiba [6103], among the first to arrive on scene, transmitted a signal ten [working fire] on arrival for fire in a Levitt style house with an exposure problem on the number two side. Westbury was designated the FAST for the operation and responded with Ladder 962. Despite a significant amount of fire and collier’s mansion type conditions firefighters made a quick knock down of the fire by putting two hand lines into operation off first due Engine 614. Units from North Bellmore, North Merrick, Hicksville, and Levittown stood by for East Meadow during the operation. Three people were transported from the scene to the Nassau County Medical Center by Nassau County Police Ambulance – their conditions were unknown. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of East Meadow Chief of Department Fertitta [6100].
