Bay Park [5-29-12]
On the afternoon of May 29th, 2012 the East Rockaway Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a boat in distress in the waters off of Bay Park. The Nassau County Marine Bureau was also called to and responded to the scene. Initial reports stated the possibility that two occupants may have entered the water; however, this later proved untrue. The ERFD also sent their fire boat [Marine One] into action, but the County boat was the first to come across the troubled, inflatable raft. The small raft was towed from Hewlett Bay to the Bay Park boat ramp where the occupants then paddled themselves to shore. The two occupants did not require medical attention; however, ERFD medics evaluated the distressed duo on scene. All four East Rock Chiefs and Ambulance 408 were on scene.
