Gotham Avenue [12-19-21]
The Elmont Fire Department was called to a house fire on the morning of Sunday, December 19th, 2021. Nassau County Fire Communications advised responding units that multiple calls were being received with some callers placing the fire on Gotham Avenue and others stating that it was on Savoy Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a fully involved, detached garage extending to a private dwelling on Gotham Avenue. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Firefighters went on to put multiple hand lines into operation to extinguish the fire – which was present in the basement and on both the first and second floors of the residence as well as the garage where it appeared to have started. All occupants made it safely out of the residence and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Fire department units were under the command of Elmont Chief of Department Conti [7010].
