BC Fahy Funeral [10-1-16]
Thousands of people, a majority of them uniformed FDNY firefighters, converged upon the quiet Yonkers suburb surrounding the Annunciation Church on the morning of Saturday, October 1st, 2016. It was the most unfortunate of circumstances that brought all of these people together – the passing of FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy of the 19th Battalion who died in the line of duty on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016. Fahy was among those operating at a gas leak in a residence when the home suddenly exploded. The chief, who had been outside running command, was struck by falling debris. It was later stated that inside the 234th Street home a drug lab was discovered and may have contributed to the explosion. As a result, two of the home’s occupants were later arrested. Fahy was posthumously promoted to division chief and leaves behind his wife Fiona and three children [two sons and one daughter]. Rest in peace Chief Fahy.
