Miami-Dade Engine 3 [6-16-15]
At FDIC 2015 the third generation Miami-Dade Rescue Engine 3 was unveiled – a 2015 Rosenbauer Command Pumper. The new rig “brings together styles from the old and new designs to help commemorate the events of 9/11.” This symbol of solidarity dates back to June of 2002 when Miami-Dade Fire Rescue first incorporated the 9/11 tribute on Engine 3.
In May and June of 2015 the rig was in New York City and surrounding areas to not only show the latest Rosenbauer design but for many to see this beautiful tribute. On June 16th, 2015 the rig made appearances at the South Hempstead and North Merrick Fire Departments. While in South Hempstead family and friends of area 9/11 victims saw the rig with a few of them leaving Mass cards behind. The latest generation features the names of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on that Tuesday morning. It will be placed into service on September 11th, 2015 at 8:46 a.m. [the time that the first plane hit the World Trade Center].
