Monroe Street [1-28-21]
On the night of Thursday, January 28th, 2021 the Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department was called to a house fire opposite 881 Roosevelt Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with fire showing at the rear of a two and a half story private dwelling on Monroe Street with all occupants safely evacuated. Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department First Assistant Chief Gerrato transmitted a signal ten [working fire]. Firefighters put at least two hand lines into operation for fire on the first and second floors of the home. Among the departments called for mutual aid was New Hyde Park, West Hempstead, Elmont and Lakeview. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department Chief of Department LaBianca [7100].
