Patterson Avenue [10-30-16]
On the night of Sunday, October 30th, 2016 the Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department was dispatched to a reported basement fire at 676 Patterson Avenue off Seabury Avenue. Franklin Square First Assistant Chief John Salzman was among the first to arrive on scene and was met with heavy smoke showing from a one story private dwelling. Franklin Square Engine 711 was the first engine company to arrive on scene with Ladder 713 as the first truck company. The first firefighters to make their way to the basement were met with a stove fire with extension. It was then a working fire was transmitted. Malverne was designated the FAST for the operation with West Hempstead also mutual aided. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire using one hand line. The cause of the fire was under investigation and there were no injuries. All fire department units were under the command of Franklin Square and Munson First Assistant Chief John Salzman [7101].
