West Sunrise and Guy Lombardo [8-5-18]

At 22:33 hours on the night of August 5th, 2018 the Freeport Fire Department was called to motor vehicle accident with car smoking at the intersection of West Sunrise Highway and Guy Lombardo Avenue. When fire department units arrived on scene they were met with a single vehicle accident with a pole down into a storefront and an engine compartment fire. One hand line was stretched and put into operation off Engine 216 to extinguish the fire. Heavy Rescue 217-2 and Hose 2 also operated on the scene. The driver, the lone occupant of the auto, was not seriously injured. All fire department units were under the command of Freeport Chief of Department Ruiz [2100]. The scene was turned over to the Freeport Police and Building Departments.
