Spruce Street [3-18-21]

On the night of Thursday, March 18th, 2021 the Garden City Fire Department along with mutual aid companies operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] at a home on Spruce Street off Old Country Road. Those first to arrive on scene were met with heavy fire showing from the rear of a two-story private dwelling. As firefighters began their operations, they discovered colliers’ mansion type conditions inside the residence hindering their efforts. Firefighters still managed to get a good knock on the fire and kept it from extending further. Among the departments called for mutual aid was Mineola, Westbury, New Hyde Park, Carle Place, and Mineola VAC. All occupants made it safely out of the home and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
