Stanco Street [4-7-19]
In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 7th, 2019 the Glen Cove Fire Department was called to a house fire on Stanco Street off Grove Street. With Glen Cove Tiller 5211 out of service at the time Sea Cliff was notified to respond to the scene with Ladder 574. As firefighters were on the way they were advised by dispatch that Glen Cove Police were on scene with a fully engulfed second floor. Firefighters confirmed this when they arrived on scene and were met with heavy fire on the second floor of a two and a half story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Among the departments called for mutual aid were Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, and Glenwood. The cause of the fire which extended to the attic of the home is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Glen Cove Chief of Department Marino [5200].
