Fulton Street [12-20-11]
On December 20th, the Hempstead Fire Department was dispatched for an apartment fire at 565 Fulton Avenue between California and Warner Avenues. Upon arrival, first responding units confirmed the police department's report of a working fire and a signal ten was transmitted. The fire was located in an apartment on the number four side of the building and on the second floor of a three story building. Recently acquired Union Engine Two made a considerable stretch as they came east on Fulton and took to the front of the building. Joining them in front of the building was Hempstead Truck One and Ladder Two. Baldwin and South Hempstead also sent Ladders to the scene and were the designated FAST teams. Along with Nassau County Police, Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps also sent one bus to the scene. Though a second alarm was transmitted, the fire was knocked down quickly and primarily contained to one bedroom.
