North Franklin Street [3-26-21]

At 17:29 hours on the evening of Friday, March 26th, 2021 the Hempstead Fire Department was called to a building fire at the Hempstead Ford Lincoln dealership on North Franklin Avenue. As units were on the way they noticed smoke showing from a distance. Upon arriving on scene companies were met with heavy fire in a steel structure at the rear of the dealership as well as in an adjacent dumpster. A working fire was transmitted followed by a second alarm soon after. Rockville Centre, Lakeview, West Hempstead, South Hempstead, Uniondale, and Roosevelt were among the departments called for mutual aid. Fortunately, all occupants made it safely out of the involved structure which appeared to be used for automotive repair. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Hempstead Chief of Department Kyle Boles [80].
