Patterson Avenue [3-30-12]
Hempstead Police were called to 117 Patterson Avenue, just before one in the afternoon on March 30th, for a disturbance at the home. Upon the officers’ arrival, they found a two story private dwelling with heavy fire in the one, four corner. The police immediately notified the fire department to respond the home located between Jerusalem and Oakmont Avenues. Hempstead Engine 5 was the first engine on scene and began sending hand lines into the home. Hempstead Truck One was the first truck on scene and took to the front of the home. Ladder Two arrived moments later and parked behind the Clinton Street based Truck One. At least two lines were put into operation to fight the midday fire, and West Hempstead Ladder 765 responded to the scene as the FAST team. A Uniondale Ladder and Franklin Square Engine stood by at the Hempstead fire house on Clinton while firefighters from the Hub were on scene. All units on scene were under the command of Chief Hendry [80].
