Monroe Street [3-8-21]
At 03:15 hours on Monday, March 8th, 2021 the Inwood Fire Department was called to a house fire on Monroe Street off Bayview Avenue. When Inwood fire units arrived on scene, they were met with fire showing from a one-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted by Inwood Assistant Chief Stevens and mutual aid notified. A box was also put out for nearby FDNY companies who upon arriving on scene transmitted a 10-75 followed by an all hands. The fire was confirmed to be inside of the Inwood fire district – only a couple of houses from the city line. Among the departments called for mutual aid by Inwood was Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Elmont, and Meadowmere Park. All occupants made it safely out of the home and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire department units were under the command of Inwood Chief of Department Johnson [3100].
