Suffolk Road [3-28-17]
Late on the night of Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 the Island Park Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 123 Suffolk Road off Kent Road. Responding fire department units were provided the additional of the occupant reporting the house filling with smoke and that Nassau County Police were on scene reporting a working fire. When firefighters arrived on scene and made their way into the home to investigate they found that they had a fire on the second floor of a two story private dwelling. Shortly after arriving on scene a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. Island Park Engine 224 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had two lines stretched with one in operation. Firefighters made a quick knockdown and kept the fire from extending. Long Beach and Oceanside were among the departments notified for mutual aid. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Island Park Chief of Department Jimmy Sarro [221].
