East Penn Street [4-14-15]
The Long Beach Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke in the house at 539 East Penn Street [with a cross street of Franklin Boulevard] at 12:35 hours on April 14th, 2015. Long Beach Police, on scene shortly before fire department units arrived, reported that they had a smoke condition. Long Beach Chief of Department RJ Tuccillo Jr. [231] was among the first fire department units on scene and reported smoke showing. As units arrived on scene Long Beach Command requested that standby units be put into place [Island Park and Lawrence Cedarhurst among others were notified for the mutual aid].
Firefighters went on to investigate the source of the smoke and found fire in the crawl space of the two story private dwelling leading to the transmission of a signal ten. Long Beach Engine 2343 was the first engine on scene and had two lines stretched with at least one line in operation. Point Lookout Lido was on scene with Ladder 254 as the FAST. All fire department units were under the command of Long Beach Chief of Department Tuccillo Jr. [231] and Long Beach Fire Commissioner Kemmins [239].
