Nassau Avenue [5-8-20]
Early in the afternoon on Friday, May 8th, 2020 the Long Beach Fire Department was called to a house fire on Nassau Avenue in Atlantic Beach. Lawrence-Cedarhurst Chief of Department Mike Beilinson [3200] was among the first to arrive on scene and transmitted a signal ten [working fire] for a fire on the second floor of a two and a half story, wood frame private dwelling. The main body of fire was located on a second-floor deck on the number one side of the home with minor extension to the interior. The fire was quickly knocked down and the scene was placed under control within twenty minutes. Assisting the Long Beach Fire Department on scene was units from Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Woodmere, and Atlantic Beach Rescue. Among the departments standing by for Long Beach during the operation was units from Island Park, Oceanside, Hewlett, and Point Lookout-Lido. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Long Beach Chief of Department DiGiacomo [231].
