West Fulton Street [1-12-16]
Long Beach firefighters were met heavy fire in two neighboring homes on West Fulton Street in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 12th, 2016. The homes [numbered 107 and 111] were just a short distance from Long Beach Fire Headquarters. The volume of fire immediately prompted the transmission of a signal ten [working fire] and the notification of mutual aid. Long Beach Engine 2343 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and lines were quickly stretched into both homes. Early reports of people trapped at the rear of the residences proved negative. Among the departments notified for mutual aid were Freeport, Baldwin, Oceanside, Lawrence Cedarhurst, Point Lookout-Lido, Island Park, Rockville Centre, and Atlantic Beach Rescue. The fire was first reported just after two a.m. and was placed under control within one hour. All fire department units were under the command of Long Beach Chief of Department Robert “RJ” Tuccillo Jr. [231].
