West Hudson Street [9-12-19]
Late on the afternoon of Thursday, September 12th, 2019 the Long Beach Fire Department was called to a house fire on West Hudson Street off Magnolia Boulevard. Long Beach Engine 2343, the first unit to arrive on scene, transmitted a signal ten [working fire] for a fire in the attic of a private dwelling. Mutual aid was then notified to respond to the scene and to standby. A second alarm was transmitted approximately twenty minutes into the operation bringing additional resources to the scene. Firefighters put as many as four hand lines into operation to fight the fire which burned through most of the attic area. Among the departments called for mutual aid was Rockville Centre, Lawrence Cedarhurst, Oceanside, Point Lookout-Lido, Island Park, Inwood, and Atlantic Beach Rescue among others. Two firefighters were injured battling the fire [neither seriously]. The scene was placed under control approximately sixty minutes into the operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Long Beach Chief of Department Digiacomo [231].
