Merrick Road [12-29-22]
Late on the night of Thursday, December 29th, 2022, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called to a waterflow alarm on Merrick Road off Charles Street. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with smoke showing and a strong odor of burning from a one-story commercial building. A FAST was requested to the scene and moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. Firefighters went on to put at least one hand line into operation for a truck fire inside of the structure. The fire was held in check by the building’s sprinkler system; however, firefighters still needed to open up to check for extension and confirm that the fire was fully extinguished. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Lynbrook Chief of Department Christopher Kelly [429].
