Scranton Avenue [4-4-15]
On the windy afternoon of Saturday, April 4th, 2015 the Lynbrook Fire Department operated on the scene of a pole down onto a building at 147 Scranton Avenue. Not long after arriving on scene firefighters were met with smoke coming from the pole and the transformer letting go in front of them. An immediate response from PSEG was requested to the scene by Lynbrook Command. Valley Stream Ladder 345 responded to the scene when Lynbrook did not have a ladder truck immediately on the road. Erring on the side of caution a FAST was requested to the scene and soon East Rockaway Ladder 403 was present. Hand lines were stretched off of Lynbrook Engines 421 and 424 and set up on two different sides of the downed pole. Soon PSEG was on scene and the power was secured. Standing by for Lynbrook during the operation was one engine and one ladder from Rockville Centre. All fire department units were under the command of Lynbrook Second Assistant Chief Chavatte [4292].
