County Line Road [11-7-18]
The Massapequa Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on County Line Road shortly before six a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, November 7th, 2018. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with heavy fire showing from a one and a half story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. South Farmingdale was designated the FAST for the operation and responded with Ladder 978. North Massapequa and Amityville each provided an additional ladder [working truck company] to the scene. During searches firefighters located an emaciated dog in the basement of the home. The dog was removed and turned over to the proper agencies. Three hand lines were stretched with at least two of them going into operation. Additional mutual aid was provided by North Bellmore and Wantagh among others. The cause of the fire and how the dog ended up in the basement of the home [which was believed to be vacant] are under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Massapequa Chief of Department Stansberry [6300].
