![Saturday, March 27th, 2021: the Merrick Fire Dept. was called to a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment on the northbound side of the Meadowbrook Parkway at Merrick Road. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found that an unauthorized box truck struck the overpass leaving behind a large piece of its roof/wall[s] but then went to flee the scene. A Hyundai SUV swerved to avoid the metal, lost control, and struck the center divider. Fortunately, the driver of the SUV was not seriously injured or trapped as originally reported.
