Merrick Road [7-3-20]

On the night of Friday, July 3rd, 2020 the Merrick Fire Department was called to an unknown type fire at the Town of Hempstead sanitation yard off Merrick Road. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a large rubbish fire inside one of the buildings on the property. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Among the mutual aid departments called was Freeport, North Merrick, and Bellmore. Firefighters used a tower ladder, deck gun, and at least one hand line to extinguish the fire.
