Sunrise and Hewlett [4-23-12]
Just after 15:00 hours on April 23rd, the Merrick Fire Department was toned out by 650 to a motor vehicle accident for a jack knifed tractor trailer and possible pin job. The location of the incident was Sunrise Highway and Hewlett Avenue. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief 6401 confirmed the pin and when Empire Engine 641 arrived on scene they put the tool into place to free the driver of a Nissan Maxima. The injured driver was transported by Merrick Ambulance 6414 to NUMC. The other two drivers involved in the accident refused medical attention on the scene. Merrick Engine 643 [Friendship] was also on scene and stretched a dry line for precautionary measures. Nassau County Haz Mat responded to the scene to assess the damage of the jack knifed tanker truck. Fortunately, no product from the truck was leaked onto the roadway.
