Badge of Courage Gala [10-14-22]
The Nassau County Firefighters Museum held its Badge of Courage celebration on the night of Friday, October 14th, 2022. The event raises money for the museum while also taking the time to recognize individuals/groups who have helped the museum and/or the fire service. During the ceremony Nassau County’s Firefighters, EMTs, and Fire Marshals were recognized for their efforts during the COVID19 pandemic. Receiving awards on their behalf was Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro, Fire Service Academy Instructor Robert Hughes, and EMS Academy Chief Instructor Frank Chester. Leo Sarro, a member of the Hewlett Fire Department and longtime museum employee, was awarded the Francis X. Pendl Firefighter Award for the countless hours he has been put into the museum. Lastly, Oyster Bay Ex-Chief Edwin J. Rahilly Jr. was posthumously awarded the honor of becoming a Hall of Fame inductee. Chief Rahilly was a founding member of the museum and dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort into it. Congratulations to all of those who were awarded and recognized.
