Flower Lane [1-31-21]
On the afternoon of Sunday, January 31st, 2021 the New Hyde Park Fire Department was called to smoke from the house on Flower Lane in the dead end off Nugent Street. Aside from a phone call reporting smoke from the house an additional phone call was received directly from the residence reporting smoke inside the home. The first fire units to arrive on scene were met with smoke showing and moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted for a fire on the second floor. Firefighters went on to stretch three hand lines and put at least two of those lines into operation. Among the departments called for mutual aid was Garden City, Floral Park, and South Floral Park. All occupants made it out of the home safely and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The scene was placed under control within one hour and all fire department units were under the command of New Hyde Park Chief of Department Papa [1700].
