Broome Street [2-11-12]
Less than twenty-four hours after the Commack Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire with occupants trapped, the North Babylon Fire Department was called to one of their own. The call came in just after noon on February 11th and stated the possibility of up to two people being trapped within the home. Fortunately for North Babylon, no occupants were home and no injuries or fatalities occurred. The location of the alarm was 17 Broome Street with Governor and Belmont Avenues as the cross streets. Chief 1-8-30 was amongst the first on scene and immediately reported visible smoke and fire from the second floor and so a signal 13 and 35 were transmitted. North Babylon Engine 1-8-4 and North Babylon Ladder 1-8-6 were the first on scene. Engine 1-8-4 stretched and put two lines into operation while Wyandanch arrived on scene as the Rapid Intervention Team. All units were under the command of 1-8-30.
