Jerusalem Avenue [3-6-16]
On the evening of Sunday, March 6th, 2016 the North Bellmore Fire Department was alerted to a car versus tree with fire and entrapment at the intersection of Jerusalem and Crocus Avenues. When the Chiefs of the North Bellmore Fire Department arrived on scene they were met with a confirmed car into a tree with entrapment and a small fire breaking out in the engine compartment. With the Nassau County Emergency Services Unit already on scene the Chief requested an engine first due. Engine 655 was on scene moments later with a line stretched. North Bellmore firefighters along with Nassau County EAB and ESU had the driver [the lone occupant] extricated in only a few minutes despite heavy entrapment. The victim was transported by a Nassau County Police ambulance to an area hospital in serious condition. All fire department units were under the command of North Bellmore Chief of Department Michael Rut [6500].
