North Jerusalem Road [11-28-16]
Around 22:30 hours on the night of Monday, November 28th, 2016 the North Bellmore Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at Dunkin Donuts located at 2675 North Jerusalem Road. The additional provided by six fire zero dispatch was that the automatic alarm was received with a call for smoke in the building. As firefighters began to assemble crews and respond they were advised that Nassau County Police were on scene reporting a working fire and that the building was evacuated. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with smoke showing from a two-story commercial building and a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. Minutes into the operation one of the North Bellmore chiefs reported that they had a gas fed fire and requested both the electric and gas companies to the scene on a rush. After a few minutes firefighters were able to shut off the gas to the building and within fifteen minutes the main body of fire was knocked down. East Meadow was initially designated the FAST for the operation but was put to work as an additional truck company. Wantagh went on to become the new FAST. Additional mutual aid was called to the scene and to standby from North Merrick, Bellmore, and Levittown. One civilian was injured and transported to an area hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of North Bellmore Chief of Department Domiano [6500].
