Verbena Avenue [12-17-12]

At 15:04 hours on December 17th, the North Bellmore Fire Department was toned out for a house fire with an additional of the caller reporting the house filling with smoke. The location of the reported fire was 1120 Verbena Avenue with Tulip and Larkspur Avenues as the cross streets. Upon arrival the first units were met with smoke showing from the residential home and a signal ninety eight [smoke showing] was transmitted. With a fire located in the basement of the one and a half story private dwelling, an additional ladder truck was requested to the scene. East Meadow Ladder 617 responded to the scene as the additional ladder. Firefighters on scene were able to make a quick knockdown of the fire and contain it to the basement. Two lines were stretched with one in operation.
