North Broadway [9-11-20]
In the early morning hours of Friday, September 11th, 2020 the North Massapequa Fire Department was called to a building fire on North Broadway between North Kings and North Nassau Avenues. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with smoke showing from a one-story row of stores. A two-and-a-half-inch hand line was immediately stretched to the front door of a tanning salon located within the taxpayer. While crews attempted to locate the main body of fire, they encountered heavy smoke, high heat, and went on to find a tanning bed that had caught fire and mostly put itself out due to oxygen deprivation. Once the condition was located the hand line was repositioned and briefly operated. With North Massapequa Ladder 661 out of service Massapequa was requested to the scene as a working truck. Also, on scene was a FAST from Seaford [Ladder 683] and an additional engine from Wantagh [Engine 697]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
