Kerns Drive By [5-29-20]
On Friday, May 29th, 2020 a birthday drive by for was held for Colonel Charles Kerns who turned one-hundred years old on that same day. Charles, the highest-ranking World War II veteran in Nassau County, served in the United States Armed Forces for thirty-four years. He also has over seventy years of service with the North Merrick Fire Department where is both a former chief and commissioner. The drive by was led by Nassau County Police Commissioner Ryder and consisted of several antique military vehicles, motorcycles from various organizations, and fire apparatus along with the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes and Drums, family, and friends.
