Chuck Varese Tournament [5-14-16]

On Saturday, May 14th, 2016 the Northport Fire Department hosted the ninth annual Chuck Varese Extrication Tournament. The event was held at the Northport Fire Department Fairgrounds and began promptly at nine in the morning. Twenty-one teams participated in the event which is named in honor of Chuck Varese – a Northport firefighter who was killed while riding his motorcycle in 2008 after being hit by a drugged driver. Firefighters cut into a total of thirty scrap cars that has been donated by Gershow Recycling. First place went to East Northport while Huntington Manor took second place. A second team from East Northport took third place.
