Long Beach Road [4-25-16]
Minutes after 4 a.m. on the morning of Monday, April 25th, 2016 the Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched to a report in the area at the intersection of Long Beach Road and Windsor Parkway. Oceanside Chief of Department JT Madden was among the first to respond and upon nearing the intersection had a confirmed smoke condition. After further investigation the chief found heavy fire in the rear of a two story mixed occupancy at the intersection. This finding led to the immediate transmission of a signal ten [working fire]. First responders helped the building’s many occupants safely escape while hand lines were put into position to the contain the fire. Despite an aggressive push the fire was too far advanced and forced firefighters to go to an outside operation. As a result, additional ladder trucks were called to the scene. The operation went on to reach a second alarm equivalent bringing neighboring departments to the scene and to standby. Miraculously no one was injured and by sunrise the main body of fire was knocked down and the scene nearly under control. All fire department units were under the command of Oceanside Chief of Department JT Madden [241]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
