Center Street [7-28-11]

On the evening of July 28th, the Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 265 Center Street between Park and Neptune Avenues. Engine 248 pulled first due, and Ladder 2442 was the first truck on scene. Aside from 2442, Baldwin Ladder 206 and Island Park Ladder 223 were also called to the scene. Freeport sent one truck and one engine to standby at the Oceanside fire house located at 65 Foxhurst Road. East Rockaway also sent one ambulance to standby in quarters. Multiple handlines were put into operation to knockdown the fire which was heavy in the rear of the home on the first and second floors.
