Campbell Avenue [7-19-12]
Around 20:35 hours on the night of July 19th, the Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire at 107 Campbell Avenue [Roxbury and Oceanside Roads as the cross streets]. First arriving units found a fire on the second floor of a private dwelling and moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. Oceanside Engine 2472 stretched in and was the first engine on scene while Ladder 2442 took to the front of the home. Engine 243 was the second to bring in a water source and positioned behind 2472. Island Park responded to the scene as the FAST team with Ladder 223 and also sent one ambulance. Also on scene were one ladder and one engine from the Baldwin Fire Department. Standby during operations was provided by Long Beach who sent one engine, ladder, and ambulance to Oceanside Headquarters. Two lines were stretched and one put into operation to fight the fire which was primarily knocked down within fifteen minutes. All fire department units were under the command of Second Assistant Chief Billy Madden Jr. [241B].
