Atlantic Avenue [12-21-19]

In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 21st, 2019 the Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched to an automatic alarm at a restaurant that is one of several businesses in an Atlantic Avenue row of stores just off Long Beach Road. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a smoke condition in the restaurant and upon further investigation found fire in the basement leading to the transmission of a signal ten [working fire]. Mutual aid was then called to the scene and to standby for the Oceanside during the operation. East Rockaway was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 403. Among the other departments called for mutual aid was Rockville Centre, Baldwin, and Long Beach. Firefighters put one hand line into operation and quickly knocked down the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Oceanside Chief of Department Bettes [241].
