Oceanside and Waukena [9-1-12]
In the early morning hours of September 1st, Fourth Precinct officers responded to the intersection of Oceanside Road and Waukena Avenue for a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Because of the possibility of the pin, ESU was notified and responded to the scene along with County Ambulances 2354 and 2364. Not long after the police received the call, the fire department was notified as well. When the first officers arrived on scene they found the driver of the involved two door Nissan already out of his vehicle. Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge Challenger required assistance in being removed from his vehicle and was helped by officers on scene. No major extrication was required for the accident and no tools needed to be put into place. From the Oceanside FD were Engine 2472, Ladder 2442, and a fire department ambulance. The driver, out prior to the police’s arrival, was checked out in 2354 and refused medical attention on scene. The other driver involved was transported in 2364 with what were said to be minor injuries. After fire department units took up, the scene was left in the hands of police.
