9/11 Memorial Dedication [7-31-16]
On the afternoon of Sunday, July 31st, 2016 the Port Washington Fire Department took part in a 9/11 memorial unveiling outside of Manorhaven Village Hall. The memorial is dedicated to Port Authority Police Officer Antonio Rodrigues who was killed in the line of duty on that tragic Tuesday. While paying tribute to the falling officer the memorial also recognizes other Port Washington residents who were killed in the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001. A large turnout was present from the Port Washington Fire Department, civilians, and members of the Port Authority’s Pipes and Drums Band which played during the ceremony. The memorial was made possible as a result of Kyle DiLeo – an Eagle Scout with family members in the Port Washington Fire Department.
