Sandy Hollow Road [11-17-19]
On the afternoon of Sunday, November 17th, 2019 the Port Washington Fire Department was called to a kitchen fire at a home on Sandy Hollow Road off Irma Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a confirmed kitchen fire in a two-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Roslyn was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Heavy Rescue 591. Also, on scene was Manhasset-Lakeville Ladder 8728. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and kept it contained to the kitchen area of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all occupants [animals included] made it out of the home safely. Units from East Norwich, Plandome, and Great Neck Vigilants stood by for Port Washington during the operation. All fire department units were under the command of Port Washington Chief of Department Thomas Golden [8500].
